The origins of the practice can be traced back to the 1940s, when brothers Ignasi and Antoni de Gispert Jordà opened a legal firm in the modernist premises of?La Casa de les Punxes (Casa Terradas)?in Barcelona.
Over the years, the firm became known as one of the leading practices in Barcelona in Civil and Company Law and the Gispert brothers achieved great professional recognition. Ignasi de Gispert Jordà was?chairman of the Barcelona Bar Association?from 1968 to 1972, chairing the Second Catalan Legal Congress in 1971. With its head office still located in the historic building, Grupo Gispert has continued with the work that the brothers Ignasi and Antoni de Gispert began.
During the 1990s the firm expanded through the integration of an office of business economists. From that time, Grupo Gispert has become a service firm for business companies. At the turn of the century, the firm expanded its traditional areas of Civil and Company Law to include Tax, Employment and Insolvency. It has now become a?benchmark firm?in Insolvency in Catalonia, with professionals included in prestigious directories such as Legal 500 or Chambers & Partners.
The firm continues with the growth experienced during the last years with the opening of a new office in Madrid in 2017. This way, we guarantee proximity and a comprehensive advice to our clients.
At the same time, the firm has expanded internationally. Grupo Gispert has an important base of international clients with interests in Spain and the firm is member of the legal networks Aliant Law and IR Global. Such connections allow us to provide full service to our clients in their transnational transactions.
The company is presently under the direction of Juan Ignacio de Gispert Talavera.
